Assignment: Write a poem on hope.

It comes at times when, most, unexpected
Beneath the scopes of radar, undetected

Not deterred by lost faith or doubt
Innate to its power, ability to upturn smile from a pout

Unlike others, it does favors, requiring nothing in return
Even lovers' quarrels, it trumps, not forlorn

Depths of despair, this loyal friend comes knocking
Glow in the eyes, it restores, with yours, locking

Flustered from the incomprehensible, not the cold
Its patience remarkable, its flavor bold

Warmth, it does, provide the soul
Nourishment, other than food, busy mind, it will lull

This close friend's support, through life's turbulences, remains unabated
To belief and prayers, it is closely correlated

Its name, you ask, and at first it does not respond
This Humble One, of your future growth, it's quite fond

The goal, to be able to recognize it, solely, by its voice
Its title, "Hope", coupled with you, both will come to rejoice.

  1. Your poem is beautiful! I can't write poetry at all. I love the line about "this close friend's support". Thanks for sharing!

  3. Such a lovely poem. I love how you stress that hope comes, undetected at times but there if you look. There are times in everyone's life where hope may be our only friend....you captured that perfectly!

  4. Beautiful poem about hope plus it rhymes.

Where would anyone of us be without hope?

This woman is my best friend and she is good at absolutely everything she puts her mind to!
